Dead Island: Riptide's New Setting Isn't Too Familiar

After the surprise hit that was Dead Island, the folks at Deep Silver are dedicated to putting out more content as quickly as possible. But for some fans, what we've seen of the results thus far in Dead Island: Riptide are too similar to the first game. The devs hear that concern and promise they're creating a whole new experience.

"The request from the fans after the success of Dead Island was very clear – they want more and they want it now!" creative director Sebastian Reichert told VG247. To ensure that "more" isn't just more of the same, Reichert said the additions of defensive gameplay, the boat, and advanced character development will make a big difference.

He backed it up with mentions of a brand new fifth character, a "darker" plot, and a system that "tracks which weapons you use and mirrors that in your proficiency with those weapons." Hopefully, all the changes will make it worthy of a full on new game, rather than feeling like more DLC. I'm fairly confident that Deep Silver will pull it off, though. How about you guys?
